Bargaining Update 7/18/22

Dear Colleagues, 

The EMU-AAUP negotiating team met with EMU administration Friday (7/15) in a hyflex classroom on campus. Matt Kirkpatrick, LaMar Stewart, Noel Brock, Deron Overpeck, Marguerite DeBello, Tricia McTague, Matt Oches, and our attorney, Joe Michaels, attended the session. The administration’s team consisted of attorney James Greene; James Carroll, Kathleen Stacey, Karen Craig, Todd Ohmer from EMU administration; and James Stengle, a benefits consultant. We discussed ground rules, presented proposals on benefits, discrimination/equity/inclusion, and sabbatical leave/FRF/summer research. The administration presented non-substantive changes to the contract, which we will review. We set an agenda for our next session to discuss a number of administration proposals. We look forward to our next hyflex meeting on July 21 to continue the work of negotiating a fair and equitable contract for faculty.
