Bargaining Update 9/01/22

Dear Union Siblings:

It has been one day since EMU Faculty have had a contract.

We would like to update you regarding the status of negotiations. As you may know, EMU filed for a process called fact-finding, in which a neutral third party will evaluate each side's positions and issue a non-binding recommendation. Our attorneys are hard at work preparing our response, and we are confident that in a time of rampant inflation nationwide, and budget stability at EMU, any neutral analysis will come out in our favor.

Although Administration has filed for fact-finding, they have stated that they are willing to continue negotiating through the weekend. We are as well. As we said yesterday, we are committed to continue these discussions and working in good faith with Administration. We will continue these discussions as long as we believe an agreement can be reached. We will update you as significant events occur, and we hope to see all of you at our informational picket at the football game tomorrow.
