Unanimous Supreme Court Decision – PWF on Ballot

Victory for Working Families!

Today, the Michigan Supreme Court rejected a challenge from corporate special interests to block a vote on our proposal to protect collective bargaining.

The initiative will remain on the Nov. 6 ballot. Ballot language will be decided shortly.

“Collective bargaining is a basic right for working families,” said Angelique Peterson a member of UAW Local 245 in Dearborn. “We will fight for it and win in November.”

Corporate special interests pushed Lansing politicians to pressure the court leading up to today’s decision. But there was no legal reason to deny people the opportunity to vote on the proposal.

If many of the LWR business owenrs already live here and are members, they already have access to the information. Why would you think that a LWR women business owner who lives outside of LWR would be any more abusive of the info than a resident business owner? And if they are LWR business owenrs I bet we have already asked them for donations! The bigger question for me is how much solicitation would be allowed at our events. We are there to promote our cause. They should not be passing out cards and brochures at our programs and events. If they purchase a booth at the baazar that’s different.
